"COMMANDMENTS FOR CHILDREN’S POETS" BY K. I. CHUKOVSKY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE LITERARY DISCUSSION AT THE TURN OF THE 1920S-1930S

Abstract. The paper considers the literary context in which K. I. Chukovsky’s article "Commandments for children’s poets" was written. Included in the content of the book "From two to five" as a guide for children’s writers, the article originally appeared in the course of acute polemics about the development of children’s literature. The history of the article creation is traced: from K. I. Chukovsky’s speech at the State Publishing House to the inclusion of the article in the book "From two to five". The context in which the article appears in print is analyzed. The article "Commandments for children’s poets" is regarded as a means of Chukovsky’s participation in the discussion as a critic, as well as the theoretical basis for fairy tales that were under prohibition.
