STRUCTURAL AND GENRE SPECIFICITY OF THE AMERICAN POLITICAL INTERVIEW: ARGUMENTATIVE AND RHETORICAL ASPECT

Abstract. The article examines the structure of a political interview genre from the viewpoint of rhetoric and argumentation by the material of the American pre-election interviews. The analysis allowed the author to identify three stages of an interview: an opening stage, a key stage - discussion and a final stage. The specificity of these stages is described considering their structure, functioning, typical strategies and speech stereotypes. Moreover, the author identifies the type of an entertaining political interview which is characterized by deviations from the established parameters.
