Abstract. The article uses dictionary material, namely the data of etymological, explanatory, translational, synonymic and phraseological dictionaries, as the subject of the research for revealing the general and specific components of the concept "happiness" in the English and Yakut languages. The choice of the concept is not accidental, since happiness, understanding and sensation of which can be mistakenly represented as universal, in fact has an ethno-cultural specificity, is a background of culture and national consciousness. In the course of the study of the English and Yakut dictionary entries, the authors conclude that the British and the Yakuts have similarities in perception and understanding of happiness, but they have national-specific components in the content of the concept "happiness" that represent the specificity of their cultures.
