Abstract. The article discusses the topicality of studying occasional words on the world crisis in the modern English economic discourse. This type of neologisms contains a high degree of expressiveness due to the presence of rhetorical and morpho-syntactic mechanisms in their formal structure. Special attention is paid to the typology of occasional words in economic discourse and to the determination of the strategy of the author’s translation of this language trope into Russian by the examples taken from the English newspaper "The Guardian" in order to find out to what extent this creative component is preserved in translation.
Key words and phrases: окказионализм, неологизм, креативный неологизм, перевод, экономический дискурс, occasional words, neologism, creative neologism, translation, economic discourse
