Abstract. The article defines and analyzes the key meaningful characteristics of the linguistic category of tense from the perspective of biology of cognition and bio-cognitive approach to language. Two concepts of subjective and objective time are analyzed and the conclusion is made that the category of tense should be studied without resorting to objective time as a factor of a physical word. The findings could be applied in the theory of language with a view to developing the existing interpretation of the category of tense, the concept of time, as well as in Grammar instruction practices.
