PRINCIPLES OF CONSTRUCTING ENGLISH-LANGUAGE TOURISM DISCOURSE AND TRANSLATION PRACTICE

Abstract. The article presents the authors’ typology of the key principles determining the discursive characteristics of tourism texts based on the analysis of authentic texts in English. The realization of these principles through language means and stylistic techniques is traced. Finally, it is concluded that these discursive principles should be taken into account when translating tourism texts into English. In this connection, the authors substantiate the thesis that justifies the "freedom strategy" with respect to the translation of such texts and the status of an interpreter as a conductor of intercultural communication with broader powers than traditional understanding of the role of the interpreter as the "author’s shadow".
Key words and phrases: туристический дискурс, принципы конструирования дискурса, стилистические приемы, перевод, стратегия перевода, свобода переводчика, tourism discourse, principles of discourse construction, stylistic techniques, translation, translation strategy, freedom of interpreter
