AUSTRIAN ?MIGR? LITERATURE OF 1933-1945 IN THE CONTEXT OF HISTORY OF WORLD LITERATURE OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying Austrian ?migr? literature and the trace it left in the history of world literature of the second half of the XX century. Austrian ?migr? literature was characterized by political passiveness; among its typical features the author mentions the motive of nostalgia for the Habsburg Monarchy epoch and the changes of the contemporary novel discourse. The study focuses on comparing German and Austrian ?migr? literature and identifying the motive for its more remarkable success among Austria’s northern neighbors. Austrian ?migr? literature is represented by such outstanding writers as S. Zweig, F. Werfel, R. Musil, H. Broch, E. Canetti, P. Celan and other talented literary figures mentioned in the article.
