COGNITIVE METAPHOR PECULIARITIES AS A MEANS OF FORMING PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS MEANINGS (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES)

Abstract. In the article, the attempt to describe the cognitive approach to the metaphor understanding and to identify its role in the process of phraseological units development is made. The views on the metaphor of famous scientists, who interpret this complex language phenomenon in their own way, are presented. The main attention is paid to the study of set expressions from the music field and their use in literary works. The author analyzes phraseological units, describing the occurrence of their meanings, as well as the images, with which they are associated.
