FROM SYMBOL TO SIMULACRUM (BY THE MATERIAL OF ANDREI BELY’S "MOSCOW TEXT")

Abstract. The article examines the transformation of Andrei Bely’s "Moscow text", a recurrent theme in his creative work, in the context of the modern philosophical and aesthetical paradigm. This transformation was the result of radical renewal of the poet’s artistic consciousness determined by the crucial historical epoch. It is shown that in his final works, Bely abandons a symbol - the basic means of romantic understanding and artistic implementation of reality in his early creative work - and begins to depict simulative reality and personages-simulacra. The analysis of "Moscow text" indicates that the writer, running ahead of his time, approached global problems of the modernity, the "era of simulation" (J. Baudrillard): deontologization and virtualization of reality and, as a result, total dehumanization of life.
