Abstract. The article presents the results of studying the functioning of a bilingual linguistic sign in fiction discourse. Bilingual writers play an essential role: their creative consciousness combines two linguistic worldviews generating new meanings popular in both the linguistic cultures. In fiction discourse, a bilingual linguistic sign performs the meta-textual function: a bilingual literary text represents the axiological system of the nation, its goals and fundamental conceptions. The paper concludes that a foreign language penetrates into a fiction text becoming an integral element of its structure and performing unique and diverse functions.
