SEMANTIC TYPES OF AUTHOR’S ORIGINAL COMPOUNDS (BY THE MATERIAL OF V. V. KRESTOVSKY’S NOVEL "THE SLUMS OF SAINT PETERSBURG")

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the author’s original compounds created by V. V. Krestovsky in the novel "The Slums of Saint Petersburg". The paper describes the basic semantic types of these lexical units, examines the types of their motivating bases and concludes about the specificity of their usage in the author’s text. The analysis allows concluding that V. V. Krestovsky’s numerous compound adjectives serve to describe the personages’ emotions, features of their appearance, represent the author’s individual perception and determine the specificity of the writer’s individual style.
