LINGUISTIC SITUATION AND LANGUAGE CONFLICT UNDER THE MODERN CONDITIONS OF LANGUAGE DIVERSITY

Abstract. The article examines the problems of a linguistic situation from the viewpoint of correlation of actual and legal status of a language. The factors promoting language conflicts are analysed. Complexities of linguistic life leading to language conflicts are considered. Scientific originality of the study involves a comparative analysis of the world experience of preventing and mitigating language conflicts: finding political compromises, demarcation of language areas and diversification of a standard language.
