GRAMMATICAL AND SYNTACTIC ANOMALIES IN THE ENGLISH LITERARY TEXT AND PECULIARITIES OF THEIR TRANSLATION INTO THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. In the article, the comparative analysis of the structural and semantic organisation of the text in William Faulkner’s novel "The Sound and the Fury" and its Russian translation is carried out. The presence of deviations from grammatical and syntactic norms in the text of the original is an important figurative and expressive means enabling the author to achieve the effect of the stream of consciousness that would be impossible while maintaining the linear theme-rheme sequence. The studied grammatical and syntactic anomalies of the English and Russian texts are considered in the context of their emotional impact on the reader, and an attempt to identify the degree of the correlation of the translation text with the original one in terms of the choice of translation strategies is made.
