COGNITIVE AND PRAGMATIC FACTORS OF NEW WORDS FORMATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying new vocabulary of the English language for the period of 2017-2018 by dictionaries material. The purpose of the work is to analyse cognitive and pragmatic reasons for new words formation. The novelty of the study lies in identifying the groups of neologisms-neoconcepts and neologisms objectifying familiar concepts rethinking. The results indicate the dominant trend of new units formation, fixing more accurate and deeper understanding of the known objects of the reality. It is found out that the most productive ways of neologisms formation are word composition and contamination.
