GERMANY IN THE WORKS OF THE RUSSIAN WRITERS OF THE END OF THE XVIII - THE FIRST HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY: TRANSFORMATION OF CULTURAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL IMAGE

Abstract. The article examines the typological line of the Russian literary works of the end of the XVIII - the first half of the XIX century (N. Karamzin, N. Yazykov, I. Goncharov), in which Germany is one of the key narration components. The works of the Russian writers of the end of the XVIII - the first half of the XIX century (N. Karamzin, N. Yazykov, I. Goncharov) form a certain cultural and geographical image of Germany that transforms in the course of time. In "Letters of the Russian Traveller" Karamzin describes Germany within the framework of his own reflection. N. Yazykov perceives Germany as a country of classical works, which did not escape from modernity influence. The writer mentions that ironic tonality appears when it comes to Goethe and Kant. I. Goncharov fills his novels with the reminiscences of the German authors’ works, which are interpreted according to his own literary purposes.
