FIGURATIVE COMPONENT IN THE STRUCTURE OF A CONCEPT (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE)

Abstract. The article examines one of the problems of modern cognitive linguistics, in particular, the problem of interrelation of the concept’s structural components. Analysing the concept FOG represented in the French works of fiction the authors argue that an image is the essence of natural world conceptions but at the same time the already existing knowledge can influence the formation of an image. Special attention is paid to metaphorical images, which appear due to the human’s cognitive activity focused on re-interpreting the images occurring in the process of sensorial perception.
