FUNCTIONAL-PRAGMATIC FEATURES OF SPEECH ACT "WISH" IN THE TURKISH COMMUNICATIVE CULTURE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the speech act "wish" in the Turkish communicative culture. The author considers communicative situations of using wishes and determines their functions and pragmatic significance. The results of the pragmatic and discursive analysis show that in the Turkish communicative culture, a wish is a conventional speech act that is not only widely used in congratulations on important events in a person’s life, but performs a phatic function being a mandatory component of the greeting, farewell and gratitude, and can be considered as a strategy of positive politeness.
