Abstract. The article considers the issues of self-presentation and describes nomination processes in the Internet space. A nickname comes out as the basic means to nominate a subject of Internet communication. This nominative unit is considered in comparison with the onomasticon of the surrounding space. The comprehensive approach to studying personal identification in the Internet space has allowed the authors to examine a nickname from different viewpoints: linguistic, linguo-psychological and socio-linguistic ones. The authors provide a comparative analysis of motives for naming of real and virtual communicative space.
