LEVELS OF TERMINOLOGICAL UNITS FUNCTIONING IN TERMINOLOGICAL SYSTEMS OF SCHOOL AND HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE UK AND THE USA

Abstract. The article examines the specificity of functioning of terminological units included in the terminological systems of school and higher education in the UK and the USA. These units are considered within the conception of the cultural component of meaning. In line with the classification of terms with the cultural component of meaning according to the lexical-semantic criterion, the author gives examples of terminological variance and uniqueness by the material of various local terminological systems. Conclusions are drawn that the British terms of education function at four levels, and the American ones - at two levels.
