DISCOURSE MARKERS OF PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE ENGLISH SCIENTIFIC AND ACADEMIC DISCOURSE)

Abstract. The article discusses the linguistic aspect of a person’s professional identity formation. The aim of the work is to identify discursive practices that transmit the personal identity of a speaker with a specific social institution. Novelty of the research lies in the characterization of professional identity in scientific and academic environment through the lenses of the language. The results, presented by a number of identified speech markers, strategies and tactics, show the dominant role of discourse in the formation of professional identity and analysis of its formedness.
