"DUAL WORLD" CONCEPT AS AN EXAMPLE OF BINARY OPPOSITION "ONE’S OWN - SOMEBODY ELSE’S" BY THE MATERIAL OF THE RUSSIAN AND BRITISH FOLK TALES

Abstract. The article considers the content of the "dual world" concept as an example of the binary opposition "one’s own - somebody else’s" by the material of the Russian and British folk tales revealing the theme of the aquatic world. In folk tales, the aquatic world is considered as other, alien. The study is based on the interdisciplinary approach. The author analyses the attitude of the British and Russian people to the "dual world" problem, identifies similarities and differences, which allow drawing conclusions about the Russian and British worldviews and the peculiarities of the national characters.
