The Russian Linguistic Terminology: Systemic Description

Abstract. The article examines linguistic and extra-linguistic factors of systematicity in linguistic terminology. The research objective includes identifying all the types of relations, which serve as a basis for systemic description of the Russian linguistic terminology. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that systemic relations in the Russian linguistic terminology are considered as zero, privative, equipollent, disjunctive oppositions. The findings indicate that oppositional relations between the Russian linguistic terms represent such untypical features of terminological units as polysemy, contextual dependence, synonymy and antonymy. The systemic features of the Russian linguistic terminology that make it similar to the natural language lexical subsystems are conditioned by affinity of the linguistics meta-language and the natural language, metaphoricity and abstractness of the research object itself - the natural language and diversity of approaches to describing linguistic phenomena.
