Lexicographical Representation of the Tatar Cultural Component in School Dictionary

Abstract. The paper aims to identify peculiarities of the Tatar culture lexicographical representation in school dictionaries. The article examines specificity of compiling a full dictionary entry for a culturally marked word unknown to students. The study is conducted by the material of the Tatar-Russian-English school dictionary by A. A. Timerkhanov and S. F. Garifullin. Scientific originality of the research involves a comprehensive analysis of a dictionary entry. Special attention is paid to the means representing culturally marked information about a headword. The conducted research allows concluding that the dictionary entry for a culturally marked word contains descriptive translation or loan translation providing a required cultural commentary.
