Abstract. The study aims to determine the form and character of interaction between the visual and the verbal in narrative structure of the novel "Text" by D. Glukhovsky. The researcher examines how the visual acts as a catalyst for the plot development, marks its most significant points. Scientific novelty of the paper lies in the fact that within its framework, consideration of the novel "Text" is for the first time undertaken from the viewpoint of media convergence, "contact" of literary text with visual codes from other media. As a result, it is proved that the metamorphosis plot, significant for the conceptual sphere of the work, is formed and unfolded through interaction between the visual and the verbal, and the protagonist endowed with a new type of sensitivity is modelled, not so much comprehending the world around him as seeing it, a kind of media sapiens.
