Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the mythological paradigm in the "ancient" novels of Cicero trilogy by the modern British author R. D. Harris. The research material includes "Imperium" and "Dictator" fragments containing allusions to the myth of Theseus and Plato’s myth of the cave. A comprehensive analysis of spatial topoi as postmodernist techniques to actualize social and historical context allows the researcher to reveal figurative and storyline parallels between R. D. Harris’s novels and works by U. Eco, J. L. Borges, R. Zelazny, R. Barthes, P. Ackroyd, to identify authorial meanings conditioned by modern influences.
