Mixed Metaphor and Malaphor in Cognitive Anti-memetics in the English Language

Abstract. The article analyses mixed metaphor and its subtype malaphor in the context of the insufficiently studied space of cognitive anti-memetics, which represents the novelty of the study. The aim of this work is to investigate the cognitive and pragmatic functioning of mixed metaphors in anti-memes in English in modern online communication. The results of the research demonstrated that the generation of mixed metaphor in an anti-meme occurs mainly due to the process of the metaphorical projection between source and target domains.
