Abstract. The paper tries to answer the question: what purpose the writer tries to achieve reinterpreting folkloric images and motives in their plays. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that the researchers for the first time provide a comprehensive analysis of the basic development tendencies of the Tatar children’s dramaturgy of the second half of the XX century by the example of Galimzyan Gilmanov’s works. The findings indicate that the folkloric, mythological personages are described as typical representatives of the mythological world, but their evil, demonic side is nothing but a mask. In fact, demonic features of Diyu and Shural are associated with grievance; it’s just a reaction to being hurt by people. With the help of the positive heroes, the mythological personages return to their natural kind-heartedness.
