Modern Political Discourse from the Viewpoint of Argumentation Theory: By the Material of V. V. Putin’s and Emmanuel Macron’s Speeches

Abstract. The article is devoted to a comparative study of rhetoric peculiarities of political discourse by the material of the Russian and French languages. The research objective is to identify and compare structural and linguistic peculiarities of rhetorical statements from the sphere of political discourse. Scientific originality of the paper involves a comprehensive contrastive analysis of political leaders’ speeches in the contrasted languages from the viewpoint of argumentation theory. The findings indicate that the orators use the rhetoric and linguistic potential of the appropriate language in different ways.
