Abstract. The paper aims to identify peculiarities of weaving and spinning vocabulary in the Northern Udmurt dialects. Dialectal words are examined from the viewpoint of etymology, semantics and word-formation. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher introduces new factual material, which is for the first time subjected to a linguistic analysis, into scientific circulation. The following conclusions are justified: the Northern Udmurt dialects contain literary as well as dialectal words possessing phonetic, morphological, lexical and semantic peculiarities; foreign vocabulary is represented by the Bulgar and Russian words.
Key words and phrases: диалектология, лексика ткачества и прядения, удмуртский язык, dialectology, vocabulary of weaving and spinning, Udmurt language
