"The Great Game" in the North: The Role of the Game Metaphor in Interpretation of the Content of the Concept-Ideologeme ARCTIC

Abstract. The aim of the study is to determine the specifics of the game metaphor, through the verbalization of which the concept-ideologeme ARCTIC is represented in media texts. The scientific originality consists in identifying the specifics of the objectification of the named phenomenon in the modern Russian media worldview, due to the dynamic content of the concept associated with a number of extralinguistic factors and expressed in the realization of the potential of the conceptual metaphorical model "Arctic exploration is a game". The results obtained showed that the game metaphor determines the components of the content, the conflicting meanings (big game, game types) identified in the structure of the concept and explicated in media texts.
