Expressionism in Literature of the Late XX Century: Drama "Endlich Schluss" ("Enough") by Peter Turrini

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal influence of expressionist aesthetics on modern literature by the example of Peter Turrini’s play "Endlich Schluss" ("Enough"). The play is analysed through the lens of the expressionist approach. Contrary to previous studies where Turrini’s creativity is examined within the framework of "Schocktheater" poetics, with the emphasis on psychological aspects or through the lens of social problematics (reconsideration of the Second World War heritage), the article analyses the play as an expressionist drama, which constitutes scientific originality of the research. The findings are as follows: the author identifies the expressionistic paradigm "light - darkness", reveals specificity of the "loop" chronotope, and considers the problem of personal estrangement (world negation which transforms to self-negation).
Key words and phrases: Петер Туррини, экспрессионизм, "Всё, наконец", "Endlich Schluss", "Enough", Peter Turrini, expressionism
