National Character in the Modern Buryat Prose

Abstract. The article examines the concept and reveals the essence of the national character, identifies the components which make up this phenomenon. The purpose of the study is to determine how the national character manifests itself and what features of the national character can be found in the works of the Buryat authors writing in Russian. Scientific novelty of the work lies in identifying universal and specific features of the national character in the works of the Buryat Russophone writers. Basing on the results of the work, the researcher defines the concept of the national character in the comprehensive manner. Certain features of the national character are identified among characters of the considered Buryat literary works.
