Abstract. The article analyzes the modern Russian-speaking Evenk writer A. Latkin’s creative work. The researcher’s attention is focused on the following issues: personages, problematics, poetics of the writer’s prose. The phenomenological approach is applied to analyze the stories written in the period from the early 1980s till the early 1990s. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the writer’s works have not been previously investigated in the domestic literary criticism. The conducted research allows drawing the following conclusions: A. Latkin’s stories possess genre features of the novel, his personages-symbols "are not in tune with life". Semantics of nature images in the context of the Evenk landscape code determines philosophical meaning of A. Latkin’s stories actualizing the human’s existential problems.
