Modern Interpretation of Traditional Fabulous Motives (by the Example of ATU 325 "The Magician and His Pupil" Fairy Tale Plot)

Abstract. The paper traces transformation of the traditional fairytale plot ATU 325 "The Magician and His Pupil" in the modern Russian fanfiction. The research material includes over 1500 fanfics based on the Russian and foreign fiction. The study uses the comparative-contrastive method. Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that the author traces the vector of transformation of the traditional fairytale plot ATU 325 "The Magician and His Pupil": "myth - folklore - literature - fanfiction". The research findings are as follows: the author identifies recurrent ATU 325 motives frequently used in fanfiction, reveals specificity of their integration into textual space of modern fanfiction and concludes about ambiguous attitude of fanfiction authors towards the motive under analysis.
