Abstract. The aim of the study is to identify the features of translation of nominative and propositional phraseological units within a prose literary text from Russian into German. The paper is novel in that it is the first to consider translation of nominative and propositional phraseological units in the aspect of the relationship between translation methods and grammatical properties of phraseological turns. As a result of the study, the researcher has determined the specifics of translating Russian nominative and propositional phraseological units with different grammatical structures (constructions with the structure of a phrase correlated through the morphological criterion with different parts of speech and constructions with the structure of a sentence not correlated with parts of speech) into German.
Key words and phrases: номинативный фразеологизм, пропозициональный фразеологизм, способ перевода, частеречная принадлежность, специфика перевода, художественный текст, nominative phraseological unit, propositional phraseological unit, translation method, parts-of-speech attribution, specifics of translation, literary text
