Abstract. The authors discuss the educational level changes of stationary social institutions staff within Tara district of Omsk region in the 1980s by the example of neuropsychiatric homes, retirement homes and asylums for disabled, reveal the major professional groups of stationary social institutions staff, and conclude that staff educational level development of neuropsychiatric homes, retirement homes and asylums for disabled within Tara district has similar tendencies, characterized by the decrease of workers with primary education, the increase of workers with secondary and professional secondary education, but there is still lack of staff with professional higher education.
