Abstract. The author gives the philosophical analysis of the social risks associated with modern engineering activity, researches the cause-effect relations and general laws of technogenic risk processes and their consequences, considers the role of human factor and society as the reason and victim of technogenic, sociogenic and naturegenic risks, analyzes the ways out of technological civilization crisis through the assessment of technical equipment, and outlines the conditions for resolving risk situations.
