Abstract. The author reveals the variety of the political investigation forms and methods of the struggle with opposition at the turn of the XIXth-XXth centuries: from secret agents penetration to legal workers' organizations creation (within the framework of police socialism) destined to limit labour movement by economic struggle excluding working class struggle for their political rights.
