CREATION OF SERBIAN VOLUNTEER REGIMENT NAMED AFTER MAJOR BLAGOTICH IN RUSSIA IN 1918

Zakharov Aleksandr Mikhailovich
Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Gertsen

Abstract. The author discusses the history of the largest South Slavic volunteer unit, which took part in the civil war in Russia - the regiment named after major Blagotich, emphasizes the crucial role of national-liberation ideology in the process of the regiment formation that adhered to the White movement largely due to the fact that the Bolsheviks replaced their internationalist ideal by the struggle for power in Russia, in which the regiment did not want to participate, and shows that South Slavs considered the White as the heir of Tsarist Russia, which diplomacy was favorable to South Slavs' national-liberation movement.
