Abstract. The author discusses the actual for today problem of research paradigms changing in modern Western historiography, sets the task to characterize the specificity of comparative analysis use in historiography and to reveal the features of model as the result of this analysis, pays special attention to the reasons of comparative analysis use in modern Western historiography, singles out the basic approaches to understanding the essence of historical fact as the basis for comparative research, emphasizes the characteristics of model as comparative analysis result, and summarizes the material revealing the features and possibilities of models use in historical knowledge.
