COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS AS INTERDISCIPLINARY METHOD OF RESEARCH IN MODERN WESTERN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract. The author discusses the topical problem of research paradigms shift in modern Western historiography, sets the task to characterize the features of Western historiography methods at the present stage and to explain the reasons of their transition to the space of interdisciplinarity, pays special attention to the reasons, why the traditional methods of historiographical research appear to be ineffective at the present stage of scientific knowledge, emphasizes the meaning and essence of interdisciplinarity dominant in modern Western historiography, proves that the use of comparative analysis in modern Western historiography is directly connected with the tendency of interdisciplinarity, and singles out the principal features of this analysis as the method of interdisciplinary research.
