PROBLEM OF CORRELATION BETWEEN CATEGORIES OF MYTH AND RITUAL WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF MODERN LINGUO-PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACH TO RITUAL ACTION INTERPRETATION

Abstract. The purpose of this article is to analyze the problems of categorical distinction between myth and ritual within the framework of linguistic approach to the study of ritual. As a result, two main interpretations of myth are revealed. In the first case, myth is understood as an actual event, once happened and fixed in people’s memory as a social archetype, renovating its value by means of ritual, in which it exists as a scheme or model. In the second case, myth is a certain spatial-temporal form, which is a kind of verbal substantiation for the existence of ritual practices.
