ART TATUM’S PIANO JAZZ AS ROMANTIC VIRTUOSITY TRADITIONS REALIZATION

Abstract. The article researches the phenomenon of A. Tatum’s unique masterly style. Basing on the analysis of texture organization principles, the specificity of the artistic thinking of this prominent representative of the jazz piano art of the ХХ th century is revealed. The list of the main methods of his improvisations musical text presentation is given. For the first time special attention is paid to the identification and substantiation of essential connection between A. Tatum’s creative conceptions and the aesthetics of the virtuosity of the European composers-pianists of the Romanticism period.
