W. SHAKESPEARE’S "KING LEAR": STRATEGIES OF ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION

Abstract. The article is devoted to the substantiation of artistic interpretation types classification basing on the functional correlation between the new work of art and its source. The scheme of the classification is applied to the analysis of W. Shakespeare’s "King Lear" derivations. As a result the article shows the "level of freedom" for each type of interpretation. This fact allows more exact evaluation of the specific works of art that takes into consideration not only their artistic value but also their communicative adequacy.
