SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF OLD BELIEF OF ALTAI IN POST-REVOLUTIONARY PERIOD

Abstract. In the article the author characterizes adaptation processes that were progressing in the Old Belief environment of Altai in the post-revolutionary period and were stipulated not only by the gained experience of survival but also by rather favourable conditions of New Economic Policy and the peculiarities of transition social structure, which admitted temporal existing of estates and groups that did not meet the ideological guidelines of the soviet rule. The topicality of this theme is that modern Old Belief existing in similar market conditions tends to occupy the same social-professional niche preferring trade and private enterprise to public service.
