CORRELATION OF SACRED AND PROFANE IN SOCIAL ONTOLOGY OF RITUAL

Abstract. The object of this article is to study the social ontology of ritual action in relation to the problem of the rethinking of sacred and profane in contemporary scientific discourse. The paper presents the comprehensive and systematic analysis of the meanings of sacred and profane categories in the light of the consideration of various theoretical conceptions offering the expansion of sacred into social in general. The author identifies the main problems that this theory conveys for the interpretation of ritual action.
