ON PROBLEM OF "AESTHETIC MOVEMENT" IDENTIFICATION IN CONTEXT OF GREAT BRITAIN ARTISTIC CULTURE OF THE LAST THIRD OF THE XIX TH CENTURY

Abstract. Despite the widespread use of the notion "Aesthetic Movement" in special culturological researches, to this day, because of the conditional nature of the notion, the question about the extent of its scientific relevance remains open. The purpose of the article is to analyze this notion and to identify the bases enabling to assert "Aesthetic Movement" development in the context of the British artistic culture of the last third of the XIX th century. Aestheticism is viewed in the article as the particular frame of mind among the British art theorists, writers, artists and the relevant practical tendency in the artistic culture of Great Britain of the mentioned period.
