SEA DUTY OF DOCTORS OF THE RUSSIAN NAVY

Abstract. The article considers the organization of the sea duty of the doctors of the Russian Imperial Navy. Among the investigated issues are the following: the medical support of round-the-world voyages, the Navy doctors’ description of foreign countries and the formation of the concept of marine hygiene. The author pays special attention to the issues of the history of the Russian medicine. The sea duty of ship doctors is considered to be the most valuable source of unique knowledge, analytical material for research work and practical activity.
