FORMATION OF THE SYRIAN SCHOOL OF COMPOSITION AND CREATIVE WORK OF SOLHI AL WADI

Abstract. The article reveals some peculiarities of the Syrian school of composition in the second half of the XX century, during the formation of the national state. The creative and organizational activity of Solhi Al Wadi (1934-2007), who was the leader of the national musical culture of a new type, is considered. The interaction of the elements and forms of the traditional Arabic art with the rules of the composing art of written tradition is shown by the example of some composer’s works. The description of the Syrian composer’s works in domestic art criticism literature is performed for the first time.
