ETHNIC COMPOSITION OF CENTRAL ASIA EXTREMIST MOVEMENTS

Abstract. The article deals with the spread of radical Islam in Central Asia countries. The author shows that for certain reasons the Islamists receive the greatest support among the Uzbeks and the Tajiks. The author’s position is that it happens due to the religious persecution of these ethnic minorities in the countries of their residence, and also because of the deeper penetration of Islam in these ethnic groups.
